BUILDING A BETTER NEWCASTLE 6/5 UPDATE PART II: NEIL TAYLOR

Neil_taylor_swansea It's looking like Swansea City left back Neil Taylor could be Newcastle's next signing, with Skysports.com reporting that United is close to a deal with the Welsh defender. So, we've updated our summer transfer guide to include the 22-year-old.

Newcastle is said to have taken advantage of a £1 million buyout clause in Taylor's contract with Swansea. If that's true, then United will have followed the same path that it did to land Lille midfielder Yohan Cabaye (although nothing has been officially announced, obviously). Both moves only reinforce the belief that the club's hierarchy is on the lookout for bargains.

Taylor, 22, only joined Swansea from Conference National side Wrexham last summer, but is highly regarded and a member of the Welsh national team. I'm not going to pretend to know much about Taylor -- I didn't watch many Championship games this season -- but at that price, it seems like a low-risk, high-reward move. What exactly this means for Jose Enrique's future remains to be seen, of course.
